The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), Region VII requested my full participation in a two day Public Health Meeting: A Catalyst for Opportunity in Kansas City, Missouri. This meeting will be convening key stakeholders and core champions from Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas to discuss HHS Secretary Tom Price’s public health priorities: opioids, mental health, and childhood obesity. 

Nationally, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) oversees 12 core public health offices – including the Office of the Surgeon General and the US Public Health Services Corps, as well as 10 regional public health offices across the nation and 10 Presidential and Secretarial Advisory committees. Within OASH Region VII, their mission is to optimize our nation’s investment in public health and health science, and promote health equity within Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas.

I look forward to the two-day meeting and having the opportunity to be around the table with stakeholders across HHS Region VII service region, who work everyday to improve the health of our nation.
