This morning, I received news that I have been accepted into the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Department of Health Policy and Management for a certificate in Health Finance and Management. As part of my graduate degree in Public Health, I will obtaining this certificate to show further expertise and competency in the field of health finance and management.
As part of the certificate, I will be taking 18 credits of courses geared toward financial management, leadership and system-level thinking. Already, I am currently enrolled in fundamentals of budgeting and financial management, and plan to take courses in quality of medical care, patient safety and medical errors, population health management, strategic planning, and performance measurements in the future.
A certificate in health finance and management will further my career in leadership, and will allow me to grow my vision of helping Missouri’s most vulnerable by improving the healthcare system from the inside. As the price of health care continues to grow, I am interested in learning creative solutions to help tackle affordability.
