It is official! The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has invited me to become one of the Departments newest grant reviewers. In doing so, I will be trained to review proposals that have been submitted to the department.

SAMHSA

SAMHSA is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is charged with improving the quality and availability of treatment and rehabilitative services in order to reduce illness, death, disability, and the cost to society resulting from substance abuse and mental health conditions. The Administrator of SAMHSA reports directly to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In order to apply for grants through SAMHSA, applicants should make sure and review all documents and resources available when applying for a new granting opportunity. To better understand SAMHSA’s process for applying for grants including, the screening of applicants, first level review, second level of review, and finally SAMHSA’s scoring rubric.
