Working to Improve Health care Access for Missourians

In continuing my professional goal to help improve health care access for all Missourians, I’ve recently accepted a position with the Missouri Foundation for Health as a Health Policy Officer. This position will support the Missouri Foundation for Health’s policy portfolio, specifically with it’s expanding coverage mission, which aims to meet the goal of reaching less than 5% uninsured in Missouri. I’ll begin at MFH on Monday, February 8th.

Announcement of the new hire was made in the St. Louis Business Journal’s ‘People on the Move‘. The Foundation’s Health policy agenda also includes achieving quality, affordable health coverage for all Missourians and to increase health equity.

With this announcement, I will be saying goodbye to my longtime PROMO family. During my tenure at PROMO, I had the opportunity to work alongside many LGBT and Ally Missourians to help pass inclusive nondiscrimination protections in 9 cities, LGBT housing protections in 2 cities, and domestic partner registries in 2 cities, 125 LGBT welcoming policies in 53 Missouri hospitals, guidance from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in recognizing same-sex married lesbians on their children’s birth certificates, helping to put an end to transgender exclusions in health insurance for Missouriansand so much more.

It was wonderful having the opportunity to work alongside so many folks for the betterment of the LGBT community– it was truly a privilege. I’ll continue to advocate for health equity for all populations that experience health disparities throughout my work.
